Theme
High order and tensor-structured methods for non-local operators
The topic is to develop and analyze high order numerical methods for the
fractional Laplacian as an important example of a non-local operator.
Of interest are numerical methods based on classical piecewise polynomials
on the one hand and nonlinear approximation schemes based on novel
low-rank approximations in tensor formats on the other hand.
Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics or a related field. The successful candidate should have a background in numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra and/or scientific computing. Familiarity with low-rank approximation of matrices or tensors is a plus.
