Project Part 6 (Jens Markus Melenk) - link
Type of position
Post-doc position.
Duration of employment
2 years.
Affiliation
The successful applicant will be employed at the Institute of Analysis and Scientific Computing of TU Wien (Vienna, Austria) and will be associated to the workgroup of Jens Markus Melenk.
Theme
High order and tensor-structured methods for non-local operators
The topic is to develop and analyze high order numerical methods for the fractional Laplacian as an important example of a non-local operator. Of interest are numerical methods based on classical piecewise polynomials on the one hand and nonlinear approximation schemes based on novel low-rank approximations in tensor formats on the other hand.

Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics or a related field. The successful candidate should have a background in numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra and/or scientific computing. Familiarity with low-rank approximation of matrices or tensors is a plus.
Involved researchers of the SFB
Jens Markus Melenk (TU Wien) and Vladimir Kazeev (University of Vienna).
Preferred start date
15.12.2021 (start date flexible).
